Think others

Think others unravels the human urge to classify its environment and furthermore highlights its resulting far-reaching negative consequences. Photographs and documents of various kinds set out a wide range of subjects within the work, from colonial representations of the ‚other’ trough to everyday practises of collecting, measuring and categorizing.

As the viewer tries to put the presented images into context, Think others unfolds a system of prejudiced classifications that determines several human (inter)actions and perpetuates the idea of categories with distinct values. The work questions the moral dimension within this system and stresses the often underlying relation between categorisation and oppression.
